Godfrey M. Bakuli
Founder and Managing Partner
Godfrey M. Bakuli is the Founder and Managing Partner of The Mutoro Group, an investment partnership employing a patient, disciplined, and rational approach to fundamental value investing. From 2012 to 2014 he successfully operated full-time as an investor in the public markets with his own capital before launching Mutoro Group Partners, LP in 2015 with backing from friends, family, and former colleagues.
Godfrey was formerly a Partner and Co-Founder at Connor Capital SB, a private investment partnership focused on investing in transportation and transportation infrastructure companies. He served previously as an investment professional at Sageview Capital, a $1 billion fund managing capital in the public and private markets, researching investment ideas across a diverse range of sectors and geographies. Prior to that, he was an investment banker at Morgan Stanley in New York. There, Godfrey advised the management of public and private companies in the transportation and infrastructure industries on $6 billion of financial and strategic advisory assignments, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, corporate defense activities, and equity and debt financings.
Godfrey is a graduate of Williams College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Economics and was elected Student Body President and chosen as a Herbert H. Lehman Scholar. He serves as a board adviser to Daisy Debt, a non-profit helping low-income consumers challenge debt collection agencies. Godfrey is an avid photographer, cyclist, and reader and a fan of English Premier League soccer and his ten-year-old Border Collie. A naturalized citizen of the United States of America, Godfrey was born in Nairobi, Kenya.
